The New Federal Law on Education of Medical Professions MedBG/LPMéd
came into effect September 1st, 2007. This law regulates the education and
postgraduate education of the five medical professions: the Medical Doctors, the
Dentists, the Chiropractors, the Pharmacists and the Veterinarians.
Chiropractic students may study either in Switzerland or abroad. The University of
Zürich will offer a first course in fall 2008. There is still the option to study abroad.
Prerequisites are the federal maturity and the scientific and human scientific basics
as taught and examined in the 1st year of studies in human medicine at a Swiss
University. The Swiss list of accredited chiropractic colleges was enlarged by:

After the education there will be a federal exam that leads to the Federal Diploma.
The Federal Diploma is the prerequisite to enter postgraduate education that will
lead to a Federal Postgraduate Title which is one of the prerequisites to practice
chiropractic in his/her own office in Switzerland independently.
